Amazing Grace

10/31/2016

We all have sung the hymn "Amazing Grace" many times in church.  We sing about being blind and now seeing and about the ten thousand years being just the beginning.  However, tucked in between those two verses are these words:
"And when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease;  I shall possess within the veil A life of joy and peace."
That describes Sarah on November 15th.  When her baby heart stopped beating, she possessed within the veil, a life of joy and peace.    She still possessed that life.  When I look around at this world full of hurt and pain where we fail to see things and people as God sees them, I know that my baby is safe.
Today, remember that someday, you can possess within the veil a life of joy and peace.  I pray that today, you get a glimpse of the joy and peace that God has for you.

Three Weeks to Launch

10/23/2016

In three short weeks we will launch our seventh year of Sarah's Butterflies.  Seven launch dates to celebrate what would be Sarah's 7th birthday.  For seven years, Sarah has been a resident of the streets of gold.
I choose to trust God and to lay down the burdens of grief and embrace the ministry of Sarah's Butterflies.  Why?  I do that because if I had Sarah, I would be concentrating on planning her seventh birthday.  Launch dates are like planning her birthday party as we launch around her birthday.
This year I need all volunteers to remember WHO we are honoring when we do this.  I don't mean Sarah as much as I mean God.  When we pass out a bag, we need to wish them God's blessings.

Prayer Partners

I know there are probably people out there wondering what they can do to help Sarah's Butterflies.  Coming with us on December 26th is not possible due to work or physical issues.  Financially helping us is not possible.  If making cards, cookies or buying school supplies or snacks are impossible, don't get discouraged.  You can pray for the kids.  We need this ministry covered in prayer.  Having committed prayer partners mean a lot to us.
How can you pray for those who will receive bags?  Pray for Farrell and Sharon.  The kids need to know that they are loved.  They need to know that God loves them and has plans for them.  Pray that we are able to reach these kids for Christ.

Ready, Set, Go

We are nearly twelve weeks from Distribution Day on December 26th.  It is easy to get lost in the details as well as think that twelve weeks is plenty of time and that we don't really have to get ready yet.
However, six weeks from now we will be launching.  Launch date, as in the date the boxes arrive at the churches, is November 13.
Now is when we need to get ready.  We need to plan purchases of snacks, school supplies, cards, baking items and bags.  In the next few weeks, I will contacting pastors to arrange presentations.  I will be contacting my volunteer bakers to get a count of cookies.
Our goal is 700 Blessing Bags and 400 school supply bags.  We need between 2,100 and 4,200 cookies (175-350 dozen).
We need to get ready so that we are set on November 13th to launch.  That way on December 26th, we can go spread hope.
